Fordyce, Watson Selected to NASL Team of the Week

FC Edmonton's Northern Ireland duo of Daryl Fordyce and Albert Watson were selected to the North American Soccer League's (NASL) Team of the Week for Week 8 of the Spring Season following a critical 1-0 win over the Carolina RailHawks that helped push the Eddies within a point of first place overall.

Here are the other top performers from the latest week of NASL action:

GK: Romuald Peiser (Ottawa Fury FC) - He kept a clean sheet against visiting Jacksonville Armada FC and he stopped all three shots he faced in the 1-0 win.

DEF: Kevin Venegas (Minnesota United) - The left back put in a complete performance once again, despite the 4-2 loss to Indy Eleven. Venegas assisted on both of the Loons' goal and created four chances overall, while winning the two tackles he attempted and eight duels.

DEF: Nana Attakora (Fort Lauderdale Strikers) - He continues to cement his place on the back line, becoming a key cog on both sides of the field. He assisted on the opening goal in the Strikers' 2-1 win and helped limit Rayo OKC's attack, winning three duels and making two clearances.

DEF: Albert Watson (FC Edmonton) - The center back helped keep the Carolina RailHawks' attack quiet in the 1-0 win for the Eddies. He won three duels and made three interceptions. He was also instrumental in FC Edmonton's goal as he drew the penalty that led to the game-winner.

DEF: Nemanja Vukovic (Indy Eleven) - He showed his value in the attack again, driving forward from his own half to help set up the opening goal. At the back, he made seven interceptions, won four duels, and made one clearance.

MID: Ramón Núñez (Fort Lauderdale Strikers) - The Honduran international was everywhere for the Strikers and scored the game-winning goal against Rayo OKC. He had two shots hit off the crossbar, while helping dictate the tempo of the game with his all-around performance. For his effort, he was named Player of the Week.

MID: Juan Arango (New York Cosmos) - After Niko Kranj?ar went down injured, Arango needed to step up in the midfield and he delivered. The Venezuelan international flashed his creativity as he set up both of the Cosmos' goals in the 2-1 win over the Tampa Bay Rowdies.

MID: Marcel de Jong (Ottawa Fury FC) - The Canadian international shined for Ottawa and helped break up play in the midfield with four interceptions and seven duels won. He also scored the game-winning goal, firing from a tight angle to hand Fury FC all three points against Jacksonville.

FWD: Justin Braun (Indy Eleven) - He worked tirelessly up top for the Eleven all game long and assisted on Eamon Zayed's opener. Braun then went on to score the game-winning goal over Minnesota.

FWD: Daryl Fordyce (FC Edmonton) - He found the back of the net from the penalty spot, but put in a complete performance for the Eddies against Carolina. He also aided in FC Edmonton's defensive efforts to preserve the shutout.

FWD: Yasmani Duk (New York Cosmos) - The Bolivian international made his first start for the Cosmos and scored his first goal as well. He was very active in his 90 minutes on the field in the Cosmos' win over Tampa Bay.
