HARRISBURG, PA- Jan Vasquez broke open a close game with a three-run homer over the right-field fence in the seventh inning Thursday night, lifting the first place Hartford Yard Goats to an 8-4 win at Harrisburg for their 20th victory of the season. The Yard Goats, who have yet to lose a series, earned a split of the four-game set against the Washington Nationals' affiliate.

First-round draft pick Kyle Freeland improved to 4-1 with the win, striking out a season-high seven batters. The southpaw, who pitched seven innings to match his longest outing of the season, retired the first nine batters he faced, before Rafael Bautista wrapped a home run around the left-field foul pole to open the last of the fourth.

The Yard Goats took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third on a two-run homer by Raimel Tapia down the right-field line. Ryan McMahon's two-run single in the fifth handed Freeland a four-run advantage but Harrisburg chipped away, until Vasquez lowered the boom with his first home run of the season.

Tapia led the Hartford attack going 2-for-4 with three RBI. Vazquez also had three RBI

Hartford opens a three-game series at New Hampshire Friday night at 6:35. Zack Jemiola (RHP), 3-0, will pitch for the Colorado Rockies' affiliate. The game will be broadcast on News Radio 1410, WPOP.
