TACOMA, Wash. - Tacoma Rainiers catcher Mike Zunino has been named the Pacific Coast League Player of the Month for April, the office of Minor League Baseball announced today.

Zunino, 25, finished April ranked among the PCL leaders in slugging percentage (first, .767), OPS (first, 1.205), total bases (tied-first, 56), home runs (tied-first, 7), batting average (second, .397), hits (tied-second, 29), extra base hits (tied-second, 13), RBI (tied-second, 22), runs (tied-third, 18), and on-base percentage (sixth, .438).

The Cape Coral, Florida native notched at least one home run in five consecutive games from April 13-18, a career-best mark. The power streak earned him PCL Player of the Week honors for April 7-17.

Zunino's .397 batting average in April was the best monthly mark for a Tacoma qualified batter since Jesus Montero hit .493 for the club through 17 games in July 2015.

Zunino was originally selected by Seattle in the first round with the third overall pick of the 2012 draft.
