Stamford, CT - Cydney Roesler, Nicole Connery, and Nicole Kosta have signed contracts with the Connecticut Whale for the 2016-17 season, General Manager Lisa Giovanelli announced Tuesday. Roesler and the Whale agreed to terms on a one-year, $15,500 contract. Kosta and Connery both agreed to terms on a one-year, $15,000 contract with the Whale.

"You've got some of the best players in the world playing in this league and I think it'll be really fun," said Roesler. "I'm excited, but I know it's going to be a challenge and this is going to push me to work harder, so I'm looking forward to it."

Roesler, a defenseman, collected 52 points (14g, 38a) in 141 games with the Bobcats, whom she captained in her 2015-16 senior season. Connery, a forward from Newmarket, Ontario, scored 102 points (42g, 60a) in 145 games at Quinnipiac. A forward out of Mississauga, Ontario, Kosta collected 123 points (39g, 84a) n 137 games. All three players have experience with Hockey Canada at the IIHF U18 World Championship.

"Two years ago, this wasn't even an option or a thought in my mind," said Kosta. "To be able to play professional hockey is a great achievement and I'm really humbled to have signed a contract."

Restricted free agency began April 1 and lasted until April 30. Free agency began May 1 and lasts until July 31. The 2016 NWHL Draft is June 18.
