Bowling Green Hot Rods News Release

Bowling Green, KY - On Monday, Bowling Green Hot Rods outfielder Manny Sanchez was named the Midwest League Player of the Week for the duration of April 25 to May 1.

In six games over that span, Sanchez went 9-for-22 at the plate (.409 BA) with two homers and five runs batted in while scoring seven runs.

Headlining the week for Sanchez was a 4-for-4 game at the dish on April 26 versus Clinton at Bowling Green Ballpark. The 20-year-old outfielder had two doubles and a homer against the Lumberkings, while scoring four runs in the game. He is the only Hot Rods player this year to have four hits and score four runs in a game.

Overall, Sanchez has hit a homer in each of his last three series he's played in.

Sanchez is the first Hot Rods player in 2016 to earn a Midwest League Player/Pitcher nod. Last season, OF Hunter Lockwood was the only Hot Rods player to be named the Midwest League Player of the Week over the entire season. He got the nod for the week of June 23 - June 29.

Sanchez and the Hot Rods will head back on the road to start up a three-game series with the Peoria Chiefs on Monday. The Hot Rods will send RHP Jose Mujica to the mound while the Chiefs will counter RHP Deran Gonzalez.

First pitch is scheduled at 6:30 p.m.
