Nashville Sounds News Release

Round Rock, Texas - The Nashville Sounds finished their four-game series against the Round Rock Express at Dell Diamond on Sunday afternoon with a 3-0 shutout win and took three out of four games to win their second series of the season.

Sounds starter Zach Neal was brilliant in the series finale. The right-hander pitched four 1-2-3 innings and recorded 11 consecutive outs from the second inning through the sixth. The former Oklahoma Sooner picked up his third win of the season in 7 1/3 shutout innings surrendering just four hits.

The Sounds broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning as Andrew Lambo's two-run single to right scored Renato Nunez and Jake Smolinski to put the Sounds on top 2-0.

Daniel Coulombe continued his dominance out of the bullpen as he relieved Neal in the eighth. Coulombe retired the only two batters he faced and preserved the shutout leaving Round Rock third baseman Patrick Kivlehan stranded on third to end the inning.

The Sounds added an insurance run in the top of the ninth inning on a two-out RBI double from Bruce Maxwell to score Lambo and the Sounds led 3-0 going into the bottom of the ninth.

Nashville native Andrew Triggs came on in the ninth inning to earn his first save of the year as the Sounds shutout the Express 3-0.

The Sounds return to Nashville for an eight game homestand beginning with a four-game series against the Iowa Cubs on Monday. Both teams had yet to announce their starter for game one of the series at the time of print. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.

The 2016 season is the Sounds' 19th year in the Pacific Coast League and their second as the Oakland Athletics' top affiliate. Tickets are available now by calling (615) 690-4487 or by visiting www.nashvillesounds.com.
