Rochester Knighthawks News Release

The Rochester Knighthawks fell 13-9 to the Saskatchewan Rush Saturday night in the final home contest of the 2016 campaign.

"We have an amazing coaching staff, we have the best owner in the league and amazing fans," said Dan Dawson. "We just didn't execute this year and it was tough."

"It was a tough game," said head coach Mike Hasen. "But it's onward and upward. We've got to get on a bus and play New England tomorrow. We've battled hard. We've had our ups and downs this season but it would be real nice for these guys to come out on top. To go into New England and play the right way and come out with the 'W' is big for us."

Rochester was led offensively by five-point nights from Cody Jamieson (2+3) and Dan Dawson (1+4). Stephen Keogh put up two goals and added a helper, while Joe Resetarits also chipped in with two goals. Josh Gillam (1+1) and Brad Self each finished the night with a goal apiece.

The Knighthawks started off strong with a pair of goals from Jamieson. The team added another pair of goals before the Rush went on a run to take an 8-5 lead. Rochester was able to get back within three goals toward the end of the fourth, but could not complete the comeback.

Rochester will close out the season tomorrow on the road as they take on the New England Black Wolves in Uncasville, Conn. The Knighthawks are hoping to finish off the season on a high note.

"We've got some great young talent and those guys are only going to get better," Dawson said. "I think we got better through the draft and we're in a good spot (going forward). Those guys are going to get better with reps and going to play summer ball and we'll see what happens next season."

"We consider ourselves a championship team and tomorrow we've got to prove that," Dawson said. "What are we playing for tomorrow? We're playing for self-pride and what it means to put on this jersey so there's a lot to play for tomorrow. We've invested so much this year and for us to show up tomorrow and not play is not going to happen. We're going to end off the season right and make the most of what we have."
