Lansing Lugnuts News Release

APPLETON, Wisc. - Tayler Saucedo continued the Lansing Lugnuts' (12-8) remarkable stretch of road-trip pitching, and a three-run rally in the eleventh inning lifted the Lugnuts to a 3-0 victory over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (11-12) on Saturday afternoon at Neuroscience Group Field.

The Lugnuts improved to 4-1 on their road trip to Appleton and Beloit, allowing only three total runs in 46 innings. In the process, the team has lowered its staff ERA from 4.09 to 3.19.

Lansing starter Jon Harris struck out four batters in four innings, allowing two infield singles, one walk and one hit batsman, before exiting.

That brought on Saucedo (Win, 1-3), who was brilliant. The 6-foot-5 left-hander held the Rattlers off the scoreboard from the fifth through the tenth innings, allowing only two hits and one walk while striking out three.

The Lugnuts finally gave him support in the eleventh, loading the bases against Jordan Yamamoto (Loss, 0-1) before scoring runs in succession on a Juan Kelly RBI single, a Ryan Hissey sacrifice fly and a Connor Panas RBI grounder off reliever Quintin Torres-Costa.

Colton Turner (Save, 4) pitched a perfect bottom of the eleventh, halting the Timber Rattlers' six-game winning streak.

Wisconsin received an outstanding performance from starter David Burkhalter in defeat. The 20-year-old set down the first 17 batters he faced, finishing with seven scoreless innings coupled with four strikeouts.

J.C. Cardenas, one of three Lugs with two hits, broke up the perfect-game bid with a single to right field with two outs in the sixth.

Leadoff man Andrew Guillotte went 2-for-5, raising his batting average to .333. Kelly finished the game 2-for-4 with a double and a walk, pushing average up to .329.

Lansing right-hander Francisco Rios (0-0, 1.47) starts the Sunday rubber match at 2:05 p.m. Eastern, opposed by Wisconsin right-hander Jon Perrin (1-0, 2.63).
