Dayton Dragons News Release

Dayton, Ohio-Clinton starting pitcher Zack Littell fired seven scoreless innings as the Lumber Kings defeated the Dayton Dragons 4-0 on Saturday night. Clinton has won the first two games of the series which will conclude on Sunday afternoon.

The teams waited out a lengthy rain delay before the first pitch was thrown at 9:34 p.m. The Lumber Kings took advantage of four Dragons errors leading to three unearned runs as they built a lead in the middle innings, scoring one in the third and two in the fifth to go ahead 3-0.

The Dragons could not mount a scoring threat against Littell as they failed to advance a runner past first base until the ninth inning. Clinton added a run in the top of the ninth to close out the scoring.

Dragons starting pitcher Jose Lopez (3-2) allowed three unearned runs to suffer the loss. He worked four and two-thirds innings, allowing four hits with three walks and six strikeouts. Reliever Ariel Hernandez replaced Lopez and pitched well, working two and one-third innings without surrendering a hit or run. Hernandez lowered his ERA to 1.32. Conor Krauss worked a scoreless inning before Jeremy Kivel was charged with one run in the ninth, the only run allowed by the Dragons bullpen in the game.

The Dragons collected just five hits as they were shutout for the third time in the last four games. Brantley Bell was 2 for 4 for the Dragons.

The Dragons (5-18) host Clinton (14-8) in the last game of the three-game series and final game of the home stand on Sunday at 2:07 p.m. at Fifth Third Field. Franderlin Romero (1-1, 3.16) will start for the Dragons against Clinton's RH Kyle Wilcox (0-1, 10.13).
