Quakes Sweep 66ers in 15-1 Drubbing

San Bernardino, CA - The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (14-7) flexed their offensive muscle defeating the Inland Empire 66ers (5-16) 15-1 Thursday night. With the win the Quakes improve to 6-0 against the 66ers this season.

The 66ers found themselves in an early 9-0 hole as starting pitcher Jake Jewell (0-3) gave up nine earned runs in his 1+ inning of work. Tim Arakawa paced the 66ers at the plate going three for three on the night with an RBI. Jose Briceno also had a strong showing collecting two hits in a losing effort.

Andrew Sopko (2-0) had a solid outing for the Quakes picking up his second win of the season. The Gonzaga product threw five innings of one run ball allowing five hits and striking out seven. The Quakes bullpen was also strong as well throwing four shutout innings. The Quakes pen allowed zero runs in the three game series.

Andrew Toles took a toll on the Sixers as the Quakes centerfield went 4-for-5 with three singles, a triple, and three runs scored. Tim Locastro, Jordan Tarsovich and Kyle Garlick powered Rancho's offense each hitting a home run. Locastro had a night to remember going 2-4 with five RBI's.

Inland Empire begins a four-game series with the Bakersfield Blaze Friday night. The 66ers look to continue their strong play against the league's northern division as they have gone 5-3 against them. Alex Klonowski (1-3 5.57 ERA) takes the mound for the 66ers. The Blaze will counter with lefthander Anthony Misiewicz (0-2 3.68 ERA) First pitch time is 7:05 PM and can be heard live on the 66ers Radio Network via 66ers.com.
