Panthers Recall McKegg from Portland

Portland, ME - Florida Panthers General Manager Dale Tallon announced today the recall of forward Gregg McKegg from the Portland Pirates. In a related move, Pirates General Manager Eric Joyce announced the signing of forward Tyler Sikura from the Toledo Walleye of the ECHL to a PTO contract.

McKegg, a 6-foot, 191 pound center from St. Thomas, Ontario, has appeared in 31 games for Portland this season, scoring nine goals and 12 assists for 21 points.

He spent the majority of the 2014-15 season with the Maple Leafs' AHL affiliate, the Toronto Marlies, where he played in 62 games and scored 22 goals and 15 assists for 37 points. During the 2015 Calder Cup Playoffs, McKegg scored two goals and picked up 12 PIM in five games in the Marlies' first round defeat at the hands of the Grand Rapids Griffins.

Selected in the Third Round (62nd Overall) of the 2010 NHL Draft by Toronto, McKegg also played three NHL games for the Maple Leafs last season. He made his NHL debut in 2013-14, playing in one game.

McKegg will be eligible for the Panthers Monday night when Florida hosts the Pittsburgh Penguins at 7:00 p.m., at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida.

Sikura, a 6-foot-2, 195 pound left wing from Aurora, Ontario has scored 10 goals and 19 assists for 29 points in 46 games with the Walleye this season.

The 23-year-old made his pro debut following his senior season at Dartmouth College appearing in a pair of games with the Springfield Falcons. Over four years with the Big Green, he saw action in 125 games with 92 points and posting a +9 rating.

Sikura will be eligible for the Pirates in time for this afternoon's game at the Mohegan Sun Arena against the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins.
