INDEPENDENCE, MISSOURI - The Missouri Mavericks topped the visiting Indy Fuel, 5-4, on Saturday night during their second of three back-to-back-to-back games at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena.

Parker Milner, back in his first game for the Mavericks since being returned on loan from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (AHL), made 31 saves in-goal for Missouri during their annual "Pink in the Rink Night" in which the home team wore specialty pink jerseys to spread awareness for women's health and wellness. The game worn jerseys were auctioned-off in a live auction after the game with proceeds benefitting Hope House.

The Fuel managed to score the first and only goal of the opening period, with Rhett Bly notching a 1-0 lead for the visitors that carried into the second period.

Missouri made their move in a big way through the next 20 minutes to follow, scoring 4 goals interrupted by only 1 Fuel tally. Rocco Carzo scored just 1:23 into the second frame, with a lone assist from Jesse Root . Then forward Ross Johnston lit the lamp just short of 2 minutes later with the help of Tanner Fritz and Chris Owens . Carzo came back with another goal for the Mavs (his 12th of the season) at 10:17 while Missouri was on a power-play ( Fritz and Zach Tolkinen assisted on the play).

Dylan Clarke broke up the Mavericks' scoring run with a Fuel goal, but the Mavs answered right back to expand their lead 4-2 over Indy when Chris Owens took a feed from David deKastrozza and Sebastien Sylvestre at 16:15 of the second period.

Missouri continue to lay on the pressure when they moved to a 5-2 lead midway through the final period in regulation. Johnston added his name to the scoresheet for the second time at 12:03 during a Mavericks man-advantage with the help of teammates Fritz and Tolkinen .

Indy made a final push through the last 5 minutes of the period, scoring twice via Peter Schneider and Zach Miskovic to come within 1-goal of the Mavs, but the score remained 5-4 in favor of the home team at the final horn.

Missouri's home record improves to 20-2-0-0 with a 37-6-2-1 overall record at the top of the ECHL standings heading into their third and final contest of the weekend against the Indy Fuel tomorrow night at 4:05p.m.

On Sunday, Feb. 14 the Mavericks will be giving out the first set of a trading card series celebrating the rich hockey history of Kansas City, highlighted in team cards of previous KC professional hockey franchises. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive this giveaway upon entrance. Doors open at 3:00p.m.

Tickets for all Missouri Mavericks home games are available online at TicketMaster.com and in-person at the arena box office. GO MAVS!
