Everblades Tame Jackals in 4-2 Win

ESTERO, FL - Corey Cowick scores two goals while Brant Harris tallies three points to lead the Florida Everblades to the 4-2 victory over the Elmira Jackals Saturday night at Germain Arena.

The Everblades pounced on early scoring opportunities in the game scoring two goals in the opening period.

Just 1:19 into the game, Corey Cowick received a pass from Matt Willows right in front of the net and forced the puck underneath an outstretched C.J. Motte to give the Everblades the early 1-0 lead.

Then with less than five minutes to play in the first, Brant Harris scored his 16th goal of the year. Justin Agosta led the charge when he passed the puck from the blue line to an open Harris. Harris received the puck with his back turned to the net, whipped around and blasted a shot past Motte to give the Blades a 2-0 lead heading into the second period.

Two minutes into the second period, Kevin Lynch and Brant Harris broke into the zone on a 2-on-1 opportunity getting behind the Jackals' defense. Harris who was leading the 'Blades down the ice hesitated and then made a crossing pass to Lynch who slapped the puck into the back of a wide open net giving the Everblades the 3-0 lead heading into the third.

In the third period the Jackals were finally able to get on the scoreboard nearly two minutes into the period when Justin Bernhardt riffled a shot past Anthony Peters from the left side of the net cutting the Everblades lead to 3-1.

Then with three minutes left on the clock, Kyle Bushee manged to sneak the puck into the side of the net from a tough angle cutting the Everblades lead to 3-2.

One minute later, Corey Cowick wristed a shot from the right wing circle scoring his second of the night and winning it for the Everblades 4-2.

Anthony Peters takes home the win saving 25 out of 27 shots on net, while C.J. Motte takes the loss allowing four goals on 28 shots.

The Everblades now head back on the road as they take on the Norfolk Admirals Wednesday Feb 17 in Norfolk. Game time is set at 7:15 p.m.
