Mississippi RiverKings News Release

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Mississippi RiverKings (21-10-6) saw their six-game winning streak come to an end as they could not contain Garrick Perry, who scored all three goals for Huntsville, as the Havoc (19-17-2) knocked off the RiverKings 3-2 on Saturday afternoon in Huntsville.

The RiverKings took the first lead of the game late in the first. With 5:20 left in the opening frame, Cullen Bradshaw sped through the neutral zone and set up Matt Harrington on an odd-man rush and Harrington tapped the puck past Havoc netminder Ryan de Melo to give the RiverKings a 1-0 lead.

The Havoc struck with a pair of goals with under two minutes to play in the first. With 1:34 left in the first, Garrick Perry made his way to the high slot and his shot beat RiverKings' netminder Garrett Sheehan's glove to tie the game at one. Then, Perry tallied his second of the game just under a minute later when he picked up a loose puck off a faceoff and wristed a shot past the glove of Sheehan to take a 2-1 lead going into the first intermission.

In the second, the Havoc added to their lead. Perry forced a turnover in the neutral zone, skated through the RiverKings' defense and beat Sheehan on a backhand shot for his third of the game to give the Havoc a 3-1 lead.

The RiverKings battled back in the third. As time expired on a Lindsay LeBlanc penalty, Linden Bahm deflected a Mike Grace shot over de Melo to bring the RiverKings within one, but it was not enough as the RiverKings fell for the first time in February with a 3-2 loss to the Havoc.

Garrett Sheehan (7-6-4) stopped 20 of 23 shots against in the loss. Ryan de Melo (1-1-0) picked up his first win in Huntsville after turning aside 27 of 29 shots against.

The RiverKings were held scoreless on three power play opportunities, while Huntsville did not score on their lone chance with the man-advantage.

The RiverKings are back on home ice Friday and Saturday February 26 and 27 against the Macon Mayhem. For ticket information, call 662-342-1755 or visit RiverKings.com.
