MAGNIFYING THE MATCHUP
Tonight the Jackals and Everblades will conclude their brief season series with the second meeting of the year and the tail-end of a weekend set at Germain Arena. Last night, Allan McPherson scored for the fourth consecutive game to put the Jackals up 1-0 late in the first period. Their lead lasted late into the contest until Justin Agosta scored with 1:36 remaining to send the game into overtime. Neither team scored in the extra frame so the game went into a shootout where Matt Marquardt scored the lone goal to give Florida a 2-1 victory. C.J. Motte turned aside 46 of 47 shots faced and one of two shootout attempts in the defeat. Last season, the Jackals lost three of four meetings to the Everblades, including the only matchup between the teams at Germain Arena. The Jackals have an all-time record of 8-11-1 against Florida. While regular season meetings have not been frequent, the Everblades are the most frequently played opponent for the Jackals in postseason play, as Florida ended Elmira's season in 2010, 2012, and 2013.
