Mobile BayBears News Release
MOBILE, AL - The Mobile BayBears have announced the schedule for the upcoming 2016 High School Baseball Classic featuring twenty-four different high schools from the area. The tournament will take place during the week of February 15th.
The BayBears Classic gives young student athletes the chance to play at a professional baseball stadium of which many of these players may never get the chance to play at the college or pro level. It also provides the opportunity for each baseball program to raise money by selling tickets to its game at Hank Aaron Stadium.
Six of the high schools will serve as host sites the first three days of the event before competition shifts to the Hank. The host sites for this year include; Spanish Fort, Robertsdale, Mary G. Montgomery, Baker, Theodore, and Satsuma.
After the schools are finished competing at each host site, the overall records and statistics are compiled and the schools are then seeded 1-24. The seeding is based on record, least runs allowed and runs scored in that order. The top two seeds will compete for the tournament championship on Monday, February 22nd. The other 22 seeds will each play a game at Hank Aaron Stadium on Thursday the 18th through Saturday the 20th.
