Kansas City Monarchs News Release

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Kansas City T-Bones have announced they've re-signed pitchers Evan DeLuca and Jeremy Strawn to contracts for the 2016 season.

The T-Bones originally acquired the left-handed DeLuca, 24 (03-09-91), who's 6-foot-1 and 195 pounds, from Somerset of the Atlantic League in mid-August 2015. He appeared in eight games for Kansas City, going 1-0 with a 0.71 ERA. DeLuca struck out six and walked five in 12 2/3 innings. Drafted by the New York Yankees in the 44th round of the 2009 MLB June Amateur Draft out of Immaculata High School (New Jersey), DeLuca, who reached high-A with the Yankees in 2012, has a career record of 5-7 with a 6.33 ERA.

"DeLuca gives us a power, left-handed arm that we will use late in the game," said T-Bones manager John Massarelli.

Strawn, 24 (03-08-91), who's a 6-foot-3 and 190-pound right hander, originally joined the T-Bones in a trade with Sioux Falls on Aug. 20, 2015. He went 2-0 with a 4.96 ERA in three appearances (all starts) for Kansas City, after starting the season 2-13 with Sioux Falls. In 16 1/3 innings with the T-Bones, Strawn struck out seven, walked one, and allowed 20 hits. As a rookie with Laredo in 2014, Strawn went 9-0 with a 2.45 ERA in 14 games. He threw three complete games that season, including two shutouts.

"We're looking forward to having Jeremy from the start of the season, as he solidifies our rotation," said Massarelli.

The T-Bones now have 22 players signed for 2016, including 16 returning, so far, from a 2015 season that saw the club finish second in the American Association's Central Division with a 49-50 record. The T-Bones were in the wild-card chase until the final week of the regular season.

The T-Bones open the 2016 regular season at home on May 19 against Texas.
