NBA Pioneer Hammon, All-Star Durant Tip off New BBVA Compass #BrightFutures Campaign

February 11, 2016 - Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) News Release

HOUSTON - Seven-time NBA All-Star Kevin Durant and Becky Hammon, who made history as the league's first full-time female coach, tip off BBVA Compass' new #BrightFutures campaign that features the odds-defying stories of the bank's brand ambassadors. The first TV commercial from the new campaign will debut during tonight's NBA coverage on TNT.

Durant and Hammon will be the first to put a voice to BBVA Compass' 10 bright-future principles, an articulation of the bank's desire to give everyone it reaches a roadmap to a brighter future. Other brand ambassadors - including James Harden of the Houston Rockets, Kawhi Leonard of the San Antonio Spurs, Chandler Parsons of the Dallas Mavericks and NBA Legend Bruce Bowen - will also star in the video series.

Durant's spot, "Dare to be you," will debut during the NBA games that air tonight on TNT. Hammon's spot, "Know where you're going," will break on Friday night during the BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge on TNT, the bank's signature event during NBA All-Star.

"We set out to define our 10 bright-future principles so that we could share what we've learned about the path to success," said BBVA Compass Chief Marketing and Digital Sales Officer Jennifer Kelly Dominiquini. "Kevin and Becky epitomize what you can do when you believe in yourself and stick to your goals. They live bright every day and they're helping us convey our own goal, our ultimate purpose, which is to light the way to a brighter future for our clients."

Each of the six brand ambassadors will speak to at least one of the 10 bright-future principles - among them "Be fearless," "Find success in failure," and "Remember your roots" - in the video series. The videos will also be featured on the new BBVABright.com website.

"I'm proud to be part of BBVA Compass' bright-futures movement because it captures what it means to be a striver, a believer in yourself so you can reach your fullest potential," said Hammon, who makes history again this weekend as the first female coach on an All-Star staff. "Everyone deserves a bright future, and if BBVA Compass wants to help people get where they want to go, and my story can serve as an inspiration, I'm all in."

The #BrightFutures campaign supports the bank's brand position that keeps clients, and their needs, at the forefront to help them stay in control of their financial lives. Underpinning the brand platform is a set of core values, among them leadership in technology and innovation, a unified, collaborative team, and "banking it forward" by doing good in BBVA Compass' communities.

BBVA Compass' 10 bright-future principles:

- Know where you're going

- Dare to be you

- Work to your strengths

- Ask for help

- Be fearless

- Find success in failure

- Challenge your status quo

- Remember your roots

- Show appreciation

- #livebright
