Providence Bruins News Release

PROVIDENCE, RI- Jeremy Smith recorded a win in his season debut with the Providence Bruins, making 25 saves on 27 shots.

Frankie Vatrano netted his 18th and 19th goals of the season, an abbreviated 17 games for the rookie forward. Both teams struggles to produce any sustained offense in the first period, despite a power play opportunity a piece.

Vatrano ended the scoring drought just 1:01 into the second period, knocking home a rebound on the power play. Seth Griffith and Chris Casto picked up the helpers.

The Devils responded with a power play goal of their own when Mike Sislo's one timer from the point went high blocker side on Smith.

The P-Bruins reclaimed the lead when Justin Hickman ripped a shot from the right face off dot and found twine. The P-Bruins fired a flurry of shots on net in the final two minutes of the period, but would have to settle for the 2-1 lead heading into the third.

Sislo notched his second of the night for the Devils to tie the game 2-2 on a breakaway opportunity. His backhand went five-hole 1:48 into the third period.

Vatrano struck again with 3:20 to play in regulation to put Providence up 3-2. Noel Acciari won a scrum in the corner and sent the puck across the crease to Vatrano who streaked to the net and deflected the puck in the back of the net. Providence managed to control the rest of the game to lock up the win.

Brian Ferlin played in his first game since October 9th. Tommy Cross slotted back in the lineup after missing three games with a lower body injury.

The P-Bruins are back home at the Dunk this Friday against the Hershey Bears.
