RoughRiders Playing 1,000th Game in Team History Friday

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, members of the United States Hockey League, will be playing their 1,000th game this Friday when they take on the Waterloo Black Hawks. Game time is at 7:05 pm at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena. A pre-game video tribute honoring the organization and Head Coach Mark Carlson will be followed by a special ceremonial puck drop. Fun and other special activities related to the event will take place throughout the game.

The RoughRiders played their 1st game in history on September 24th, 1999 on the road in Sioux Falls, SD. The RoughRiders won in a shootout by a 3-2 score over the Stampede, who also were playing their 1st game in team history. Cedar Rapids 1st game at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena, better known as "The Stable" was played on January 8th, 2000 against the Rochester Mustangs. The RoughRiders won that game in a shootout 3-2. The team had to play the 1st half of their inaugural season on the road awaiting completion of The Stable.

The RoughRiders have a record of 559 wins, 350 losses and 90 overtime/shootout losses and have only missed the postseason twice in the team's 17 year history. Currently, the RoughRiders sit atop the USHL standings with a record of 27-10-3.
