Vancouver Giants News Release

Vancouver, B.C. - The Vancouver Giants beat the Edmonton Oil Kings 1-0 on Monday afternoon at the Pacific Coliseum. The G-Men got their lone goal from defenceman Ben Thomas. Ryan Kubic stopped all 28 shots he faced to record his fourth shutout of the season.

The first and second periods both ended scoreless. Kubic stopped Tyler Robertson on a penalty shot in the first period while David Brumm sent Carter Popoff in for a scoring chance with a no look behind-the-back pass in the second period, but Popoff was denied by Edmonton goalie Patrick Dea.

Thomas broke the deadlock midway through the third period after being set up on the power play by Trevor Cox, and the Giants held on in the late stages to preserve the victory.

Vancouver is back in action on Friday night at the Rink on Renfrew when they host the Kamloops Blazers. Puck drop is set for 7:30pm. For tickets, go to TicketLeader.ca or call 604.4.GIANTS (604.444.2687).
