Canes Reassign Ryan Murphy to Charlotte

RALEIGH, NC - Ron Francis, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has reassigned defenseman Ryan Murphy to the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Murphy, 22, was recalled to Carolina on Jan. 31, and played in Carolina's game at Calgary on Feb. 3 during the recall. The Aurora, Ont., native has earned four assists in 19 NHL games this season, to go along with five goals and 11 assists (16 points) in 22 Checkers games. Murphy (5'11", 185 lbs.) has scored six goals and earned 23 assists (29 points) in 108 games with Carolina since the team drafted him in the first round, 12th overall, in the 2011 NHL Draft.
