February 7, 2016 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Aberdeen Wings News Release

Your Aberdeen Wings hit the road this past weekend for a pair of games in Minot. This would be the 3rd and 4th straight meeting with the Minotauros, Minot got a weekend sweep at the Odde last weekend. In a very even game where each team had 32 shots on goal, it was a Matt Pulvers goal in the shootout that gave the Wings the extra point in a 3-2 shootout win in Minot. Aberdeen jumped ahead 1-0 with an early 1st period goal from Jonatan Gustafsson, but that was answered just :12 seconds later by a Minot goal from Max Reisinger. Each team scored a power play goal in the 2nd period as Jared Brandt scored for Minot and Kyle Siemers answered for the Wings. Aberdeen goalie Peter Thome made 30 saves in the win and Minot goalie Gunner Rivers made 29 saves in the loss.

Saturday night the Wings were looking to get out of town with a sweep and another 2 points. Minot goalie Lucas Murray had other ideas though as he stopped all 29 shots that came his way as the Minotauros picked up a 2-0 home win over the Wings to move to within a point of 1st place in the Central Division. It was a goaltending battle for much of the game, until finally the Minotauros broke through early in the 3rd period on a goal from Christian Mohs. Minot added their second goal of the game via the power play four minutes later as defenseman James LaDouce scored. Tyler Jeanson picked up assists on both Minot goals. Wings goalie Peter Thome played well in the loss, making 33 saves.

With the 2 points earned on the Weekend Aberdeen climbed up the Central Division standings and are now 1 point out of 5th place and just 4 points out of the 4th and final playoff spot. They will have another great opportunity this weekend as they will be back at the Odde this weekend to host Brookings Friday night and Minot once again Saturday.
