Mallards Notes

Last Night

Guillaume Gelinas scored twice and Anthony Collins provided what proved to be the game winning goal in the third period as the host Mallards defeated Rapid City Rush 4-2.

Sweep

The Mallards last night completed a two game sweep of the Rush after blanking Rapid City 4-0 Wednesday night.

Foursome

The Mallards are unbeaten in regulation (2-0-2) in their last four games.

Red Light District

The Mallards have scored four goals in consecutive games for the first time since their third and fourth outings of the season. They scored five times in wins over Tulsa October 24 and Wichita October 25.

Home Sweet Home

The Mallards have won four of their last five home games.

On the Road Again

The Mallards are winless (0-3-2) in their last five road games. They last won away from home when they defeated the IceMen 2-1 in Evansville January 16. Tonight's game is the first of four straight on the road for the Mallards.

Between the Pipes

Brody Hoffman made 21 saves while earning the win in goal for the Mallards last night. As Jake Reed, the other goaltender on the Mallards' roster, is an emergency backup, Hoffman tonight is expected to make his eight happearance in the Mallards' last ten games.

Jelly

Gelinas last night scored twice in one game for the first time in his career. He has piled up four points (two goals and two assists) in the Mallards' last two games.

Top Trio

A member of the line of Brady Brassart, Matt Carey and Kevin Henderson has scored in each of the Mallards' last five games. Carey, who scored an empty net goal and added an assist last night, has seven points (three goals and four assists) over those five contests while Brassart is on a five-game point scoring-streak (1-4-5) and Henderson is in the midst of a four-game point-scoring streak (1-3-4).

Iron Mike

Among defensemen, Mike Monfredo is tied for fourth in the ECHL in assists (21) and ranks sixth in points (26).

Special Teams

The Mallards have scored power play goals in each of their last three games (3-for-9). The Mallards have killed off 11 of their foes' last 12 power plays and 25 of their opponents' last 27 advantages. The Mallards are tied for fourteenth in the ECHL on the power play (16.7 percent) and rank third in penalty killing (86.5 percent).

Head to Head

The Mallards tonight visit Fort Wayne for the first time this season. The Mallards have gone 1-1-0 over the first two games of their seven-game season series with the Komets. All-time, the Mallards have gone 46-48-11 against Fort Wayne. The ECHL is the fourth different league in which the two teams have clashed. They previously competed against each other in the United, International and Central Leagues.

Tanner Eberle (upper body) returned to the Mallard lineup last night after missing seven games...Jake Reed was signed as an emergency backup goaltender yesterday...Jared Knight was assigned to the Mallards by Iowa (AHL) Thursday...Steve Michalek was recalled by Iowa (AHL) Thursday...Olivier Archambault (upper body) and have missed the Mallards' last eight games...Zach Pochiro (upper body), who has missed the Mallards' last 16 games, is on 21-day injured reserve.
