Tigers Continue to Have Oil Kings Number

Edmonton Oil Kings News Release
The Edmonton Oil Kings woes versus the Medicine Hat Tigers continued Saturday night when they dropped a 5-2 decision at the Canalta Centre.
Edmonton faced Medicine Hat three straight times in the middle of December where the Tigers swept them. Coming off a strong couple of games at Rexall Place, the Oil Kings were unable to generate enough scoring as Tigers goaltender Nick Schneider stopped 42 of the 44 shots he faced.
Medicine Hat's Tyler Prezuiso got things started when he rifled a shot past Oil Kings netminder Patrick Dea on a feed from Mason Shaw.
The Tigers then jumped on Edmonton 15 seconds into the middle frame after Cole Sanford scored making it 2-0. Oil Kings left-winger Brett Pollock answered back on a nifty play where Lane Bauer won the draw cleanly right to Pollock who snapped it past Schneider. The goal was Pollock's 6th straight game with a point or more (5G, 5A).
The Oil Kings had trouble staying out of the penalty box and the Tigers made them pay when Sanford potted his second of the game deflecting a Shaw point shot behind Dea.
Colton Kehler brought the Oil Kings to 3-2 when he shoveled in the puck on a mad scramble in front of Schneider giving him eight on the year. Branden Klatt and Andrew Koep were credited with the helpers. The Tigers' Shaw collected his third point of the night when he took a Chad Butcher 2-on-1 pass and snapped it over the blocker of Dea. Matt Bradley rounded out the scoring when he fired home his 13th.
The Oil Kings were 0/2 on the powerplay while the Tigers went 1/7 on the man advantage.
The Medicine Hat win puts them just four points behind Edmonton for the final playoff spot. The Oil Kings are back in action Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Rexall Place when they host the Vancouver Giants. Game time is 7:00 pm.
