Storm Enters Holiday Break on Six-Game Point Streak

December 22, 2015 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Tri-City Storm News Release

The Tri-City Storm enters the holiday break on a six-game point streak, its longest of the season and tied for longest in the USHL. The Storm's Wade Allison sniped a USHL-best four goals in Tri-City's pair of weekend wins.

Friday at Sioux City, Allison recorded his first USHL hat trick, including the overtime game-winning tally, to push the Storm to a 3-2 win. A day later in Omaha, Allison scored an insurance goal in the third to rush the Storm over the Lancers, 3-1.

The Storm's nine-day break takes it until next Monday, Dec. 28, when Tri-City is in Green Bay to start a two-game set against the Gamblers.

The next home game for the Storm is January 3, 2016, against Des Moines.

Last Week:

Friday, December 18 at Sioux City W, 3-2 (OT)

Saturday, December 19 at Omaha, W, 3-1

This Week:

Monday, December 28 at Green Bay, 7:05 p.m.

Tuesday, December 29 at Green Bay, 7:05 p.m.

Need to Know:

24 hours of dominance

In a span of about 24 hours, Storm forward Wade Allison became the most-dominant USHL scoring threat of the weekend, leading all players with four goals and notching his first hat trick Friday at Sioux City, culminating with the overtime game-winning tally. The native of Myrtle, Manitoba, Canada has boosted to ten goals and 13 points this season.

The 18-year-old's scoring prowess helped Tri-City sweep the weekend. Allison was on ice for five of six Storm goals this weekend, good for a plus-three rating.

This is the second award the league has handed the Western Michigan commit in the last week. On Tuesday, Dec. 15, the USHL and NHL Central Scouting named Allison and forward Carson Meyer to the USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game.

"Wade is a prototypical power forward that is big, physical and skates well," said Head Coach and General Manager Bill Muckalt after Allison was tabbed to the Top Prospects Game. "Those are all important attributes."

Allison finished the weekend with four goals and has eight tallies his last seven games.

The Storm's Jake Kielly made 29 saves for his team-leading sixth win of the season.

Game 26 at Omaha: Rasmussen stumps again, Storm bests Lancers, 3-1

Dayton Rasmussen was perfect on 27 shots after allowing an early goal, allowing the Storm offense to push around Omaha in a 3-1 win Saturday from Ralston Arena.

In total, Rasmussen made 28 saves on 29 shots, giving the 17-year-old netminder two wins and one overtime loss in his first three starts with Tri-City.
