Rampage Open Road Trip with 5-1 Loss to Moose
December 16, 2015 - American Hockey League (AHL)
San Antonio Rampage News Release
MANITOBA - The San Antonio Rampage (11-9-6-0) fell to the Manitoba Moose (7-14-1-2) 5-1 in front of 4,890 at the MTS Centre on Wednesday evening. Mikko Rantanen's unassisted goal in the first period stood as the Rampage's lone tally of the night.
Nic Petan opened the scoring for the Moose in the first period off a Nikita Zadorov ricochet that put Manitoba up 1-0. The Silver and Black answered late in the frame when Rantanen intercepted a pass in the Manitoba zone and buried the puck upstairs past Eric Comrie. Rantanen's goal tied the game at one heading into the first intermission.
Manitoba took back the lead early in the second period. A Rampage turnover in their own zone lead to an uncontested shot for Matt Halischuk, who made short work of the puck as he put the Moose up 2-1.
San Antonio entered the final stanza trailing by one, but Manitoba secured the win with three goals in the final period. Patrice Cormier, Scott Kosmachuk, and Matt Fraser all found the back of the net, capitalizing off rebounds in Calvin Pickard's crease.
San Antonio was outshot 36-23, and finished scoreless on five power-play opportunities.
Notes
Rantanen recorded his ninth goal of the season, which ties him with Andrew Agozzino for the most goals scored for the Rampage this season.
Lineup Notes
Troy Bourke replaced Dan Maggio on the fourth line with Trevor Cheek and Patrick Bordeleau. The first three lines remained the same.
Up Next
