Chicago forward Jordan Caron opened the scoring at 12:19 of the first period. Defensemen Andre Benoit and Peter Harrold each earned an assist on the play. Harrold walked the puck in from the left point, finding Caron to the left of the goal. Caron backhanded a pass to the front of the net, bouncing the puck off a Wild defender and into the net for his sixth goal of the season, giving the Wolves a 1-0 lead. Wild forward Christoph Bertschy tied the game 1-1 at 18:42 of the period. Defenseman Gustav Olofsson and forward Marc Hagel each tallied an assist on the goal. Hagel started the play by dumping the puck into the offensive zone and winning a race to the puck, tossing a pass to the front of the net. With nobody home, the puck drifted out to Olofsson at the left point. Olofsson fired a low shot towards the net and Bertschy tipped the puck over the glove of Copley for his third goal of the season.

Wolves forward Yannick Veilleux scored at 6:40 of the second period, giving Chicago a 2-1 lead. Forwards Evan Trupp and Zach O'Brien each earned an assist on the goal. Veilleux carried the puck into the zone on right side before cutting towards center ice, dropping the puck off to Trupp. The forward received the drop pass and returned the puck to Veilleux in the left slot. The left wing fired a wrist shot over Irving's blocker, finding the upper-left corner for his sixth goal of the season. Chicago forward Pat Cannone scored at 13:38 of the second period, giving the Wolves a 3-1 lead. Harrold tallied his second assist on the goal. Harrold fired a point-blank shot from the high slot. Irving made the initial save but lost the rebound through the traffic in front of the net. Cannone found the loose puck in the crease and slid it past a sprawled-out Irving and into the net for his seventh goal of the season.

Wild forward Zack Mitchell scored at 1:41 of the third period, cutting the Wolves lead to 3-2. Forwards Jordan Schroeder and Michael Keranen each tallied an assist on the power-play goal. Keranen walked the puck down the left boards, sliding a pass to Mitchell in the high slot. Mitchell blasted a one-timer through the five-hole of Copley for his eighth goal of the season. Iowa forward Jordan Schroeder scored at 8:10 of the period, tying the game 3-3. Defenseman Christian Folin picked up the lone assist on the power-play goal. Folin found Schroeder all alone in front of the net with a pass from the point. Schroeder's initial backhand shot was denied, but he slid the rebound under the legs of Copley for his fourth goal of the season. Wolves forward Jeremy Welsh broke the tie with a goal at 15:17 of the third period, giving the Wolves a 4-3 lead. Harrold and forward Ivan Barbashev each tallied an assist on the goal. Harrold corralled the puck at the left point and fired a shot towards the net. The puck re-directed off of Welsh as he went crashing towards the net, tipping the puck behind Irving for his seventh goal of the season.
