Saturday, the Johnstown Tomahawks welcome NHL Legend and NBC analyst Jeremy Roenick to the Cambria County War Memorial for a special appearance.
The Boston native will drop the ceremonial first puck and also sign autographs for fans during Saturday's contest against the New Jersey Titans.
Roenick is considered one of the greatest American hockey players in NHL history, amassing over 500 goals in his 18-season NHL career. He also represented the United States Olympic hockey team on two occasions, leading Team USA to a silver medal at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games held in Salt Lake City.
During his storied career, Roenick suited up for five teams.
His career began when he was drafted eighth overall by the Chicago Blackhawks. During his tenure with the Blackhawks, Roenick earned 596 points (267 goals and 329 assists) in 524 games.
After eight seasons in Chicago, Roenick would played for the Phoenix Coyotes, Philadelphia Flyers, Los Angeles Kings and the San Jose Sharks before hanging up his skates.
During the Hockeyville contest, he became an advocate for Johnstown on national television during every stage and now he returns to the city just two months after the exhibition game between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Tampa Bay Lightning.
While visiting the city, Roenick will also promote his new book, "Shoot First, Pass Later." The book chronicles stories from his 20-year career, while providing a perspective on life as a pro athlete.
"After seeing the incredible support and enthusiasm from the Johnstown Hockey community during the Hockeyville contest, I'm looking forward to coming back, interacting with fans, visit the town and promote my new book," said Roenick.
