Kearney, Ne. - Three Storm players, Jake Wahlin, John Marino and Wade Allison, will have their heads shaved Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Viaero Center as part of the Tri-City Storm's pairing with the American Cancer Society for No Shave November.

Throughout the month of November, fans donated money at Storm home games for the players they wanted to see have their head shaved. In a close vote, Wahlin, Marino and Allison all finished within $1 of each other.

Replay's Barber Shop in Kearney will provide the haircuts.

"We offer free services to our cancer patients including giving them wigs in the event they are receiving treatment that would result in hair loss," said Sara McCarty, Community Manager for the American Cancer Society. "One of the things that's special about this event is players are making a conscious decision to have their heads shaved. Those with cancer might not have the same choice."

The Storm teamed with the American Cancer Society for No Shave November and the Jerseys for a Cause Program, raising over $1,300 this month. Tri-City will also donate all proceeds from December's Jersey for a Cause Raffles to the American Cancer Society.

"I think the event is a great symbol and an awareness piece for our community," said McCarty.

The team is auctioning off jerseys from its Color Out Cancer Night at every home game for the remainder of the season, with proceeds benefitting local cancer organizations. This season, Tri-City has raised more than $2,700 for local organizations fighting cancer.

"No Shave November is a huge part of the hockey community on a national scale," explained Dana Wright, Vice President of Business Operations with the Tri-City Storm. "Our great partnership with the American Cancer Society allows us to give back on the local level with the No Shave November concept."

"Just like the Storm, ACS is a community-driven organizations and it means a lot to have a strong relationship with the team," said McCarty.

Two of the players participating, Wahlin and Marino, are representing The U.S. Junior Select Team at the World Junior A Challenge in Cobourg and Whitby, Ontario, Canada from Dec. 13-19.

The Storm is on the road at 7:05 p.m. next Saturday against Lincoln at The Ice Box, with 6:45 Storm Pregame on The Breeze 94.5. The next home contest is Sunday, Dec. 6, against the Lincoln Stars at 5:05 p.m. Fans are encouraged to bring their teddy bears to the game to toss on the ice after the Storm's first goal.

Groups of 10+ can get discounted group tickets for as low as $11! For more information contact the Storm Box Office at 308-338-8144.
