Toledo Walleye News Release

Walleye Notes

Another unbeaten in regulation week: Toledo picked up at least one point in all three games this past week starting with a 4-1 win over Brampton on Friday night at the Huntington Center. Brampton struck first, but the Walleye scored four unanswered to pick up the win. Saturday night the Walleye were held without a goal but collected a point in a 1-0 overtime loss at Fort Wayne. The week ended in style by erasing a three goal deficit at Kalamazoo before taking a 4-3 shootout win.

Streak still alive: By virtue of Toledo not losing a game in regulation this weekend means that the Walleye have gone eight straight games (5-0-3) unbeaten in regulation. This is the Walleye longest streak since a nine game unbeaten streak set last year from December 30, 2014, through January 24, 2015 (7-0-2). The last time the Walleye were defeated in regulation was a 5-4 loss at Manchester on November 13.

A new Walleye record: In Sunday's game at Kalamazoo, Toledo set a new Walleye single-game record for shots on goal with 54 breaking the old record of 51 set on March 6, 2010, vs. Charlotte. Twenty-nine of those shots came in the third period (23) and overtime (6). The all-time Toledo ECHL record for shots is 66 set by the Toledo Storm January 3, 1998, vs. Huntington.

Bonus hockey a habit : Two of the three games played this week for the Walleye went into overtime or a shootout. Six of the first 18 games played for the Walleye have seen an overtime and five more have gone into shootouts. Toledo has a record of 0-1 in overtime and has won two of five shootouts this year.

On the hook : Toledo plays just two games this week and both will be played in Indianapolis against the Fuel. Toledo dropped the first meeting vs. Indy this year after falling in a shootout 3-2 on October 16. The first of the two games comes Thursday night with the follow up on Friday. Toledo is 5-0-1 all-time against the Indy Fuel.
