Spokane Chiefs News Release

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Spokane Chiefs announced today they have traded 19-year-old forward Kolten Olynek to the Prince Albert Raiders in exchange for a conditional pick in the 2017 WHL Bantam Draft.

"Kolten is a great person and a solid player who will help the Prince Albert Raiders this season and we wish him the best moving forward," said Spokane Chiefs General Manager Tim Speltz.

"We have been extremely satisfied with the development of our young forwards and that has created a numbers problem on our roster. With Hudson Elynuik returning from injury, we simply had too many forwards."

Olynek, who was acquired by Spokane from the Moose Jaw Warriors in a trade last season, scored three goals and four assists in 36 games with the Chiefs. In 140 career WHL games with Lethbridge, Moose Jaw and Spokane, Olynek has 11 goals and 20 assists.

The trade brings Spokane's roster to 25 players, including 14 forwards, eight defensemen and three goaltenders.

The Chiefs' next game is at home on Friday, December 4 against the Seattle Thunderbirds. It will be Fred Meyer Shop with the Chiefs Night at Spokane Arena as one lucky fan will win a $1,000 shopping spree to a local Fred Meyer store.

Tickets for Friday's game and all Chiefs' home games are available via TicketsWest, online at www.ticketswest.com and over the phone at 800-325-SEAT.
