November 29, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Adirondack Thunder News Release

TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: Tonight's matchup is the second of three this season between the Thunder and their long eared friends, the Greenville Swamp Rabbits. The Swamp Rabbits took the first meeting back on Saturday, November 14, by a 3-2 final in Bon Secours Wellness Arena, as they came from behind with two, third period goals to offset a two-goal night from Michael Kirkpatrick. The Thunder suffered just their third loss of the season last evening in a hard-fought 5-4 shootout loss to the Elmira Jackals, their first defeat in three meetings with the Jackals.

TIP OF THE LOMBERG: Ryan Lomberg has shined thus far in Adirondack, with eight points (4-4-8) in seven games, including points in both games since he returned from Stockton of the AHL. Lomberg is currently riding a five-game point streak, extended by his two-point effort in last night's loss, and collected his first power-play point of the season with an assist on Jeff Silengo's game tying goal. The Richmond Hill, ON native also collected his first career AHL point in his most recent callup, an assist in the Stockton Heat's 5-3 win over Texas on November 14.

SILENGOAL: Forward Jeff Silengo immediately made his presence felt, as he scored a crucial game tying goal in the third period to earn the Thunder a point. Silengo made his season debut last evening in Elmira, after he had missed the first 13 games of the season with an injury. The University of New Hampshire graduate made his professional debut last season, as he collected nine points (2-7-9) in 40 games with the Florida Everblades and Gwinnett Gladiators.

CAPTAIN KIRK: Michael Kirkpatrick continued his fine start to the season with two points (1-1-2) and eight shots on goal in last night's game. Kirkpatrick, who ranks second on the team in goals (6) and third in points (11) carried the team offensively in Adirondack's last meeting with Greenville, with both goals in a 3-2 defeat.

SHOTS AND SWATS: The Thunder set season highs last night in Elmira in both shots and penalty minutes. The Thunder fired 48 shots at Elmira netminder Nicklas Lundstrom, the first time in franchise history the Thunder have had more than 40 shots on goal. Adirondack also collected 45 penalty minutes, including 15 from Luke Curadi and 22 from Mitchell Heard. Heard leads the Thunder in both points (13) and penalty minutes (62) this season.

MAKING MOVES: The Thunder are shorthanded at forward after losing three forwards over the past three days. Greg Wolfe and Alexandre Carrier both signed PTO's with Albany of the AHL and Roberts Lipsbergs was traded to the Utah Grizzlies for future considerations. The Thunder activated Silengo from injured reserve and defenseman Mike Busillo from the reserve list to fill the void. Defenseman Luke Curadi also saw some time up front last evening at even strength and on the power play.
