Stars Can't Complete Comeback, Fall 3-2

Kearney, Neb. - Backed by two early goals, the Des Moines Buccaneers were able to stave a comeback and win 3-2 on Saturday night at the Ice Box.

Des Moines took the lead late in the first period.

Buccaneers forward Georgy Gorodetsky scored his fourth goal of the season at the 16:21 mark, giving Des Moines a 1-0 lead at the first intermission.

The second period held the same theme as the first.

Des Moines forward Justin Howell put home a rebound at the 4:04 mark of the period, extended the Bucs lead to 2-0 at the second intermission.

The action increased in the third period, with both teams combining to score three goals.

Lincoln forward Patrick Polino got the Stars on the board at the 9:48 of the period, cutting the Buccaneers lead to 2-1.

The Bucs answered less than two minutes later when forward Nikita Pavlychev put Des Moines up 3-1 on a rebound.

Stars defenseman Christian Evers added one more goal at the 13:27 of the third, but the Stars were unable to find the equalizer.

Lincoln goaltender Patrik Virtanen stopped 30 shots.

The Stars are back in action Friday, December 4th at the Ice Box against the Chicago Steel. Puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m.
