Portland Pirates News Release

Portland, ME - Florida Panthers General Manager Dale Tallon announced today the recall of defenseman Dylan Olsen from the Portland Pirates. In addition, the Pirates have announced the release of forward Derek Army from his Professional Tryout Agreement.

Olsen, a 6-foot-3, 210 pound defenseman from Calgary, Alberta, skated in nine games with Portland since being reassigned from Florida on October 29. He scored one goal and added one assist for two points.

Over his six year professional career, the 24 year-old Olsen has played in 116 NHL games with the Panthers and Chicago Blackhawks. A Chicago First Round (28th Overall) selection in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Olsen played one-and-a-half seasons of NCAA Division I Men's Hockey for the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs before turning pro.

Olsen will join the Panthers in Detroit ahead of their game tomorrow afternoon against the Red Wings.

Army, a 5-foot-11, 185 pound right wing from North Kingstown, Rhode Island, played four games with Portland without registering a point. It was the first AHL stint for the 24 year-old second year pro.

Before joining the Pirates, Army, the son of former Portland Pirates Head Coach Tim Army, scored three goals and eight assists for 11 points in 10 games with the ECHL's Wheeling Nailers. Prior to turning pro, he played four seasons of NCAA Division I Men's Hockey with the Providence College Friars.

Army will rejoin Wheeling ahead of their home game tonight against the Brampton Beast.

The Portland Pirates are home tonight to finish off a two-game series against the Utica Comets! The puck is scheduled to drop at 7pm at the Cross Insurance Arena. Tonight's game is the Pirates' Annual Teddy Bear Toss Game. Bring a new stuffed toy to the game and throw it on the ice when the Pirates score their first goal. All donations will go to the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital.
