Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release

Muskegon, MI - The Muskegon Lumberjacks did not start the weekend the way they had hoped, falling to the Tri-City Storm 2-1. It was their second loss in the last eight games.

Quickly after the first period started, the Lumberjacks found themselves in the penalty box. After the Lumber- jacks killed back to back penalties, they went on their first power play. Unable to create any scoring chances, the game remained scoreless, until the Storm's forward Collin Rutherford broke the tie with forty seconds left in the opening frame, to give the Storm a 1-0 lead.

Starting the second period down 1-0, the Lumberjacks took to the attack. With a lot more energy, the Lumber- jacks were able to draw a second power play opportunity, and Rem Pitlick bashed his 8th goal of the season into the back of the net, to tie the game 1-1. Trevor Hamilton and Collin Adams picked up the assists on the goal.

In the third period, both teams racked up quality scoring chances, but Lumberjacks goaltender Joey Daccord and Storm goaltender Jake Kielly kept the game knotted at one. With just over seven minutes to go in the game, the Storm Captain, Tory Dello, scored his first goal of the season with a wrist shot from the top of the circle to give the Storm a 2-1 victory.

The Lumberjacks (8-8) will to look to rebound tomorrow night in a rematch with the Tri-City Storm (7-8-4). It will be Red Wings night at L.C. Walker Arena, as the Lumberjacks look for their seventh win in nine games.
