Moncton Wildcats News Release
MONCTON N.B. - Wildcats acquire free agent Ryan Mooney from the Rayside-Balfour Canadians of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League. The 17 year old defenceman is a native of Sudbury Ontario. He has played 21 games to date this season with the Canadians, posting 6 goals and 17 assists for a total of 23 points. Prior to this season he played for the Sudbury Nickel Barons, recording 34 points in 50 games. Ryan was recently named to the Canada Hockey East Camp for the World Jr A Challenge, but will not attend as he will be playing here in Moncton.
"We are really excited to have a player as skilled as Ryan join our back end; and a rare right shot defenceman. Ryan is only 17 and we will look to him for years to come as our power play QB, we would like to welcome him to the Moncton Wildcats!" said Director of Hockey Operations, Roger Shannon.
The team is back in action tonight as they take on the Victoriaville Tigres. Ryan will join the Wildcats line-up tomorrow night in Shawinigan for their final game of this Quebec road trip.
