Arnold Scores Third of the Season in Narrow Defeat to Ontario

November 26, 2015 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Stockton Heat News Release

Ontario, Calif. - Bill Arnold netted his third goal of the season, as Drew Shore earned his fifth point in as many games with the primary assist, but the Stockton Heat would not be able to score any more and the Ontario Reign narrowly edged the Heat 2-1 Wednesday night in Ontario. Arnold's goal was his second power-play goal on the season, pushing him into sole possession of second place on the team in power-play goals with two. Kent Simpson earned the nod between the pipes and made a season-high 23 saves on the 25 shots he faced, but Peter Budaj (19 shots, 18 saves) and the Ontario Reign once again limited the Heat offensive attack to earn the victory. The Stockton Heat will have a quick Thanksgiving break before hitting the ice back at home against the Bakersfield Condors in the first of a Friday-Saturday home-and-home against their Highway 99 rival.

QUOTES

"I thought we worked, but I think we have to learn how to work at a different level. They [Ontario Reign] didn't give us a lot of opportunities, but those are the games where you have to find a way. In order to be a good or elite team, we have to find a way to take a lesson from tonight's game and take that next step. You have to find a way to get through tight checking and big bodies against guys who know how to win. That's the one thing we'll take out of tonight's game." - Head Coach Ryan Huska on what his team will take away from tonight's close loss.

"I thought [Ladislav] Smid was ok and he gave us a good game on the backend. For the most part I thought that all of our defense was pretty good. It was our forwards up front that were a little bit lacking. I thought Morgan [Klimchuk] was pretty good. He's been off for a significant period of time and usually the first game back is a bit of an adjustment getting back up to pace again." - Coach Huska on what he saw from Ladislav Smid and Morgan Klimchuk tonight.

"It's nice, but you want to see it be more of a threat than it is right now. It's costing us points, so we're going to have to revamp one of the units and try to get a little more push from some other guys." - Coach Huska on the Heat's first PP goal since November 13th at San Antonio.
