Kearney, Neb. - Peyton Jones served his own form of stuffing on Wednesday night, turning aside 47 shots in the Stars 2-1 shootout-win at the Viaero Center.
The Stars opened the scoring early in the game, getting on the board at 3:47 of the first period when Will D'Orsi slid a loose puck under the pad of Storm goaltender Matt Greenfield. Grant Jozefek and Adam Brady picked up assists on the goal.
Lincoln's 1-0 lead would hold until the first intermission, despite being outshot 17-5 in the opening frame.
Neither team scored in the second period. Tri-City took a 30-12 shot advantage into the third period.
Storm forward Jake Wahlin cracked the code with 14:05 remaining in regulation and the 1-1 tie would hold for the remainder of regulation and the overtime period.
Stars forward Ethen Frank scored in the seventh round of the Stars first shootout of the season and Peyton Jones made the game-winning stop to move Lincoln to 14-5-0 on the season.
The Stars are back in action Saturday, Nov. 28 at the Ice Box against the Des Moines Buccaneers. Puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m.
