Hurricanes Sign Forwards Simpson & Hunt

Halifax, (NS) - The Halifax Hurricanes have agreed to terms with 6'9 Anthony Simpson and 6'10 Kyle Hunt.

Following two successful years at Kent State, Anthony Simpson played eight games for the Iowa Energy in the NBA Development Leagues in 2012 and six games for Residence Walferdange in 2013/14 (Luxembourg - Total League). For Residence Walferdange he produced impressive averages of 20.2 points per game and 11.0 rebounds per game. During the 2014/15 season, the gifted forward again produced double-double averages in thirty games for Etzella.

Kyle Hunt, a first round draft pick of the Austin Spurs (the NBA affiliate of the San Antonio Spurs) in 2013, played professionally in Uruguay for Atletico Olympia Montevideo where he dominated the league averaging 19 points, nearly 10 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game.

The versatile big man has also taken his talents to such countries as Argentina, where he averaged 15 points and 8 rebounds for the Alianza Vieddma Rio Negro, and Mexico.

"We are expecting big things from these two young men," ?said General Manager of Basketball Operations Andre Levingston. "Both Kyle and Anthony are unique players, both have the ability to score the ball, but for guys their size they can put the ball on the floor and shoot extremely well."

Levingston went on to add, "They are extremely athletic players and love to run the floor, they will be impact players for our club."

To date Halifax has also signed 6'7 Canadian Negus Webster-Chan, 6'6 shooting guard Joseph Bertrand, 6'8 power forward Mike Glover, 6'2 point guard Cliff Clinkscales. Cliff, Kyle and Mike, all from New York, played together in pro leagues in the summer.
