Benson, McKinstry and Ronning on Central Scouting List

Vancouver, B.C. - Vancouver Giants Captain Tyler Benson, defenseman Ryely McKinstry and forward Ty Ronning have been included on NHL Central Scouting's Players to Watch List ahead of next summer's NHL Entry Draft. The list was released on Tuesday and includes 46 other WHL players.
Benson was given an 'A' rating, meaning he is a candidate to be a first round pick while McKinstry and Ronning were both given a 'C' rating, meaning they are projected to be drafted in the fourth, fifth or sixth round. Benson and McKinstry were both included in the Preliminary Players to Watch List in September while Ronning was not.
Benson, an Edmonton native, was drafted first overall by the Giants in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft. The 17-year-old played in both the Under-18 World Championships and the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup over the summer, helping Team Canada to bronze and gold medals respectively. Benson has four goals and five assists in 13 games this season.
McKinstry went to the Giants in the second round of the 2013 Bantam Draft at 23rd overall. The Calgary blue liner has one goal and one assist in 11 games this year. He has also played internationally as he suited up for Team Canada Black at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in November, 2014.
Ronning was a first round pick of the Giants at 15th overall in the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft. The Burnaby native is currently Vancouver's leading scorer with 12 goals and six assists in 23 games this season. Ronning played for Team Pacific at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in January, 2014.
