Ice Bears Drop Home Game to Cottonmouths

Knoxville, TN - Tyler Henry and Shawn Bates scored 32 seconds apart late in the second period and Brandon Jaeger made 33 saves for Columbus as the Cottonmouths handed Knoxville its fourth consecutive loss Saturday night.

Columbus notched only its second win of the year after defeating Macon in a shootout on Sunday. Knoxville has dropped four straight games and seven of its last nine after starting the year with back-to-back wins.

Craig Simchuk scored first for Columbus at 14:28 of the first after a shot from the point bounced away from Ice Bear goalie Bryan Hince. Knoxville responded midway through the second with a goal from the slot by Jason Price.

Late in the second Columbus capitalized off a turnover by Hince and Henry scored his third goal of the year. 32 seconds later Shawn Bates found the twine off a rebound after two quick saves by Hince. Brad Pawlowski scored his third goal of the season later in the period to cap off the scoring. Hince made 20 saves in the loss.

Knoxville and Columbus will meet again on Tuesday in Columbus for their third meeting this season. The Ice Bears defeated the Cottonmouths 4-2 on October 24.
