San Antonio Rampage News Release

SAN ANTONIO - The Rampage rallied from a three-goal deficit, but fell to the Ontario Reign 4-3 in overtime in front of 6,403 at the AT&T Center on Friday night. Maxim Noreau tallied a goal and two assists to earn the Third Star of the Game, and Joey Hishon added a goal and an assist. Spencer Martin made 35-of-39 saves.

The Reign got first-period goals from Ryan Horvat and Scott Sabourin to take a 2-0 lead into the first intermission, just the third time this season the Rampage have trailed after the first 20 minutes.

Sean Backman tacked another goal onto Ontario's lead at 13:52 of the middle stanza, but the Rampage scored three straight goals to force the extra frame. Noreau scored his fourth of the season late in the second period, and Nikita Zadorov picked up his third goal in six games on the power play early in the third period to bring the Silver and Black within one.

With time winding down in regulation, Joey Hishon buried a rebound off a shot from Noreau to force a league-leading eighth overtime game for the Rampage.

Michael Mersch tallied the game-winning goal just 21 seconds into the extra frame to seal the 4-3 win for the Reign and deliver the Rampage their fifth overtime loss.

San Antonio was 2-for-6 on the power play while holding the Reign to one goal on three chances with the man advantage.

Key Stat Friday's game marked the league-leading eighth overtime game for the Rampage. San Antonio is 2-5 in overtime games, and has lost one game in a shootout. Lineup Notes The Rampage lines remained nearly unchanged from Tuesday's win over the Texas Stars. Dan Maggio replaced Trevor Cheek on the fourth line, playing alongside Michael Schumacher and Sam Henley. With defenseman Mat Clark out with an injury, Hubert Labrie was paired with Chris Bigras.

Up Next The Rampage host the Charlotte Checkers on Sunday at 4 p.m., which will be a Y-100 Sunday Funday at the AT&T Center. Individual and season tickets are available and can be purchased by calling a Rampage representative at 210-444-5554 or online at sarampage.com.
