WUERFEL PARK - The Traverse City Beach Bums, the 2015 Frontier League Champions, are excited to announce that they've agreed to a contract extension with manager Dan Rohn. The veteran skipper is now signed through the 2018 season.

Rohn is coming off a season in which he guided the Beach Bums to a 56-38 record and the club's first-ever Frontier League Championship. He also earned a trip to the mid-season All-Star Game as the manager of the East Division team. This was Rohn's second season as the Beach Bums' manager after serving the club in a variety of roles starting in 2011.

"I'm honored and happy to be with the Beach Bums through at least 2018" said Rohn. "Its been fun and I'm looking forward to many more great things to come."

The Alpena, MI native has more than 30 years experience in professional baseball as both a player and coach. Rohn played 13 years, including three stints in the Major Leagues. His major league debut came September 2, 1983 for the Chicago Cubs and he'd go on to spend time in "The Show" with the Cubs in 1984 as well. He returned to the majors in 1986 as a member of the Cleveland Indians. In 54 career Major League games, he hit .250, one homer and 11 RBI. He was a fourth round pick for the Cubs in 1977 out of Central Michigan University.After his playing career ended, Rohn moved into coaching where he started as the hitting coach of the Portland (OR) Beavers, the Minnesota Twins' Triple-A affiliate in 1990. He has been coaching every year since, working in many facets. He has been a manager in 18 of the last 25 seasons.He has won numerous championships during his time on the bench, with the first coming in 2000 with the Seattle Mariners' Double-A affiliate New Haven (CT) Ravens in the Eastern League. In 2001, he was promoted to manager of the Triple-A Tacoma (WA) Rainiers in the Seattle system and promptly guided

the team to the best record in the Pacific Coast League (85-59) and a share of the league championship. That season saw him earn his first PCL Manager of the Year honor, an award he would grab again in 2004 and 2005 with Tacoma.The Mariners once again promoted Dan in 2006, where he spent the season as the Major League Administrative Coach before returning to managing with the Fresno (CA) Grizzles, the San Francisco Giants' Triple-A team. He spent three years in Fresno before being named the manager of the Las Vegas 51's, the Toronto Blue Jays' Triple-A affiliate.He now resides in Traverse City year round, with his wife Mindy.

The Beach Bums begin defense of their championship Friday May 13th at Southern Illinois. The home opener at Wuerfel Park is Friday May 20th vs. Joliet.

The Traverse City Beach Bums are the 2015 Frontier League Champions and will be playing their 11th season of professional baseball in Northern Michigan starting May 2016. All home games are played at Wuerfel Park, a state of the art ballpark located in Blair Township, MI. The Beach Bums business offices are open from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm Monday through Friday.
