Utah Grizzlies News Release

Rapid City, South Dakota - The Utah Grizzlies (9-4-1-0) defeated the Rapid City Rush in the 11th round of a sudden-death shootout Wednesday night at the Rushmore Events Center.

The win gives Utah their ninth-straight road win, dating back to last season, and sets an all-time team record for consecutive wins away from home.

"We found a way to get two points," said Head Coach/General Manager Tim Branham. "It was a choppy game, but in the end, we found a way."

Torin Snydeman scored the game-winning goal for the Grizzlies in the shootout after he tied the contest at one 4:04 into the first period, exactly a minute after

Rapid City made it 1-0 with Shayne Taker and Jon Puskar drawing assists.

"Everyone is bought in and no matter what, we're pulling each other along and I think that's the kind of character you look for," said Grizzlies goaltender Ryan Faragher.

Utah took a 2-1 lead on a breakaway shorthanded goal by Jon Puskar with just under five minutes left in regulation before Rapid City tied the game at two with just over two minutes left.

Faragher, who improved to 9-1 on the season, stopped 26 of 28 through overtime and eight of eleven shots in the shootout.

"It was a gutsy effort by the boys," said goaltender Ryan Faragher. "I'm really proud of Puskar for getting his first ECHL goal as well."

The Grizzlies fell behind in rounds one, three and sixth before countering on the next shot with goals from Barry Almeida, Charles Sarault and Jon Puskar.

Faragher stopped five-straight Rapid City shootout attempts to finish the game.

"It's been a lot of fun, being able to play every game and be the guy that the team kind of leans on," said Faragher. "It's been great to be able to get off to a good start and we just want to keep building on it."
