AKRON, OH - Jill Williams returns home to direct the Akron Racers Foundation's amateur events, now celebrating its 16th season. The Foundation's "Grassroots to the Pros" initiative began in 2001 and has grown into multiple high school, travel ball and All-Star events beginning in April each year.

Williams' is no stranger to Foundation's President, Joey Arrietta. The enormously decorated coach and educator, played and coached under Arrietta at The University of Akron. Williams, a certified coach, has logged 31 years as a teacher, 22 years in the Sandy Valley school system. Her list of accolades are impressive as Williams has excelled at every level from her numerous years as a player, coach as teacher.

In building the Sandy Valley fastpitch program, literally, from the bottom up, Williams has led Sandy Valley to numerous OHSAA sectional, district and regional championships. Williams has earned district and league coach of the year honors multiple times in her career.

Williams has earned a spot in both the Akron and Canton Hall of Fames. She was honored in 2012 as one of the Most Influential Persons in Women's Sports in Akron/Canton.

"I am thrilled to have Jill on our staff," noted Arrietta. "Our amateur program continues to be very important to me and I have now placed it in the hands of one of my most trusted colleagues."
