Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins News Release

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The American Hockey League announced today that Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins left wing Conor Sheary has been selected as the CCM/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Nov. 15, 2015.

Sheary tallied a goal and seven assists for eight points in three weekend games, helping the Penguins extend their winning streak to a franchise-record 11 straight contests.

Sheary established a career high with four points on Friday night, scoring one goal and assisting on three others as Wilkes-Barre/Scranton rolled past Hershey, 7-0. He was scoreless in Saturday's 3-1 win over Rochester, but he notched his second four-point game in less than 48 hours on Sunday evening, picking up four assists as the Penguins rallied for a 7-6 overtime victory at Hartford.

Sheary is tied for third in the AHL with 12 assists and has totaled 14 points in 13 games for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this season, his second professional campaign. A 23-year-old native of Melrose, Mass., Sheary tied for seventh in AHL rookie scoring in 2014-15 with 45 points, giving him 22 goals and 37 assists for 59 points in 73 career regular-season games. The former standout at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst has also tallied 11 goals and 12 assists for 23 points in 23 Calder Cup Playoff contests for the Penguins.

Sheary is the first Wilkes-Barre/Scranton player to be named CCM/AHL Player of the Week since Matt Murray was given the title on Mar. 8, 2015. Before Sheary, the last Penguins skater to be named CCM/AHL Player of the Week was Philip Samuelsson for the week of Jan. 19, 2014.

In recognition of his achievement, Sheary will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Penguins home game.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton season ticket packages, including Full Season, 22-game, 12-game and Flexbook plans, are available by contacting the Penguins directly at (570) 208-7367.
