Blazers Win Big, 9-1 over Cougars

The Kamloops Blazers (9-8-1-0) won big on home ice as they beat the Prince George Cougars (10-8-1-0) 9-1 on Sunday night.

Gage Quinney opened the scoring for the Blazers shorthanded. Quinney and Deven Sideroff combined for the play, as Quinney intercepted a pass and took a give-and-go pass from Sideroff to make 1-0 Blazers.

The Cougars tied the game up shortly after the Blazers took the lead as Brogan O'Brien scored on his own rebound off the rush to make it a 1-1 game.

Quinney gave the Blazers the lead again 10:41 into the period. He finished off a one-timer from Collin Shirley to make it 2-1 Blazers.

Nick Chyzowski gave the Blazers a 3-1 lead with a power play goal. He tipped a shot from Garrett Pilon and the Blazers took a 3-1 lead into the intermission.

It was all Blazers from there as Matt Revel made it 4-1 only 42 seconds into the second period finishing off a rush.

Quinney got his hat-trick on the fifth goal finishing off a nice pass from Collin Shirley to make it 5-1.

Shirley made it 6-1 finishing off another rush on a rebound as the Blazers held the lead entering the third period.

The Blazers continued to dominate the game into the third period gettting goals from Collin Shirley, Matt Revel and Jermaine Loewen to make it a 9-1 final.

Collin Shirley had a big night with two goals and three assists, while Gage Quinney finished with three goals and an assist.

The Blazers power play went 3-for-6 on the night, while the Cougars were 0-for-3.

Connor Ingram earned the win as he stopped 32 of 33 shots he faced.

The Blazers are home again on Wednesday night when they host the Kelowna Rockets. Game time is 7:00pm.
