November 13, 2015 - Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL)
Moncton Wildcats News Release
The Wildcats staged a big comeback late in the game to record a 5-4 overtime win against the Halifax Mooseheads!
Blade Mann-Dixon made his debut in nets tonight with the Wildcats, turning away 21 shots for the win.
With a two point lead and only two minutes remaining in the game, it looked as though the Mooseheads 4-2 lead would hold for the win; but the Wildcats rallied back in the dying minutes of the game to tie it up. At 18:33 of the final frame Adam Holwell put Moncton within one on his power play goal. Then, with 24 seconds left in the game Cameron Askew scored the tying goal to send this game to overtime!
Only 0:51 seconds into OT Conor Garland fed the puck to Will Smith who made no mistake, taking the puck up the wing right on net to bury the overtime winner for his sixth of the season!
Other Wildcat goals early in the first and second went to Kelly Klima (9th) and Zack MacEwen (4th). Austin Kosack also recorded his first point tonight in a Wildcat uniform.
Second star with four assists on the night went to Conor Garland, and third star was Will Smith with the overtime winner. The Cats now improve to 15-6-2 on the season.
The team is back in action tomorrow at the Coliseum as they take on the rival Cape Breton Screaming Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Don't miss what is sure to be an exciting game! It is NB Hockey Hero's night, and First Responders night. Also, at second intermission be sure to head over to the Bubba Rays Zone to meet Dr. Hook from the movie Slap Shot!
