Lexington Legends News Release

The Lexington Legends are well-represented on the Kansas City Royals' organization All-Stars for 2015. The Royals' All-Star selections were released Friday by MiLB.com, the official website of Minor League Baseball, which chooses All-Star teams from every major league organization.

The Legends recently completed their third season as an affiliate of the Royals, who were the 2015 World Series champions.

The Royals' organization All-Star roster includes second baseman Corey Toups, who spent the entire 2015 season with the Legends, and first baseman Ryan O'Hearn, who tied for the South Atlantic League lead in home runs with 19 despite being promoted from Lexington to Wilmington of the Carolina League July 17. Toups and O'Hearn were teammates and roommates in their college baseball days at Sam Houston State.

Former Legends who were named organization All-Stars included third baseman Mauricio Ramos of Wilmington, who played for Lexington in 2014; right-handed pitcher Alec Mills of Wilmington, who was with the Legends for parts of the 2013 and 2014 seasons; left-hander Matt Strahm, who started the 2015 season with Lexington and was promoted to Wilmington June13; and left-hander Scott Alexander, a Legend in 2013 who spent most of the 2015 season with triple-A Omaha and was called up to the Royals in September.

"It's exciting to watch the progress of the players who are coming through Lexington," said Legends President/CEO Andy Shea. "This is a well-deserved honor for all of them."

The All-Stars also included outfielder Amalani Fukofuka, who batted .339 in 67 games for Idaho Falls of the Pioneer League, and could be with the Legends in 2016.
